ADOLECENT MENTAL HEALTH DURING LOCKDOWN
COVID-19 crisis is having a significant impact on the mental health of adolescents. Many young people report that their perception of the future has been negatively affected. Hoop Hero would like to promote youth participation in advocating for mental health dialogue, promote accessibility, and to destigmatize mental illness in their community.

SHANGHAI'S RESPONSE TO COVID-19
As a response to the COVID-19 crisis, Shanghai ordered lockdown of all residents to slow the rate of transmission, ease the pressure on the health care system, and protect at-risk populations. The lockdown has had a major impact on young people's mental well-being and has been a source of stress, anxiety, and trauma.
STOP THE STIGMA SHANGHAI
Mental Health Support During Lockdown
Hoop Hero Ambassador Vee Chung started a youth-led organization aiming to destigmatize mental health in China and support adolescents impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Stop the Stigma Shanghai aims to create an online community to support teens in the challenges they face, offer support, and create a safe space for communicating their emotions.

COMMUNITY IS KEY
In times of distress, being able to lean on a community is an essential aspect of self-care.

SENSE OF BELONGING
Loneliness and isolation are common symptoms of someone dealing with mental issues. A community allows them to vent, share feelings, exchange stories, and seek support.
PROVIDE SUPPORT
The community allows members to share their feelings, emotions, and thoughts in an effective way. There is no judgment to be with peers who are also struggling.
INFORMATION AND THERAPY
The community can be a pool of information for those who are not able to seek professional help. It helps members identify their illnesses and share coping skills.
