Shanghai Announces Immediate Lockdown!
As the rest of the world begins travel mask-free, take international holidays, return to office, going to political rallies, and living as close to normality as they can with the lingering COVID-19, Shanghai goes into indefinitely lockdown. This includes complete confinement of residential buildings, school closures, suspension of all traffic and businesses.
After two years into the pandemic, China is still insistent on its zero-tolerance policy as it tries to “run faster than the virus.” In many ways, China has no choice since its vaccination rates are not high enough and the medical system is not sufficiently resourced to avoid catastrophe. Sadly, China is not yet ready to join the world in living with COVID yet.
